Early June – early Autumn 2016: Phase 2 – New STEM outreach centre and centrally programmed teaching space

Construction is underway at the University's Penrhyn Road site to create new, state-of-the-art facilities for STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) subjects.

The project will create public-facing science and technology facilities, as well as significantly improving facilities for students.

  • New laboratories will be fitted out with the latest equipment, with the University creating a new high-spec teaching room, which will be centrally programmed and linked with the new STEM outreach space.
  • New chemistry and pharmaceutics laboratories will replace former teaching rooms on the second and third floors of the main building, above the Clattern Lecture Theatre.
  • New STEM outreach centre and centrally programmed teaching space.

Work to create the outreach centre and the teaching space is due to take place on site from early Summer 2016, ready for the start of the academic year, Autumn 2016. The new outreach centre and teaching space will have an attractive glazed façade, looking directly on to the John Galsworthy courtyard.
