By car

There's always a fair amount of traffic in Kingston but on graduation days it can become extremely congested, so please leave plenty of time if you decide to drive.

There is no parking at the Rose Theatre. The closest car park is the Rose Car Park, on Kingston Hall Road (the entrance is on the High Street). It's only two minutes walk from the Rose Theatre and open until midnight. But this car park will get extremely busy, so early arrival is recommended. Parking is charged at £1.20 per hour and £1 after 6.30pm.

Collecting your tickets

If you're picking up your tickets at the Rose Theatre on the day, just pop along to the information desk on the ground floor. Please remember to bring along a copy of the email confirming your ticket allocation.

Is there a cloakroom?

When you go on stage you can't leave anything on or under your seat, as you might be ushered to another seat afterwards. And taking your stuff on stage makes shaking hands harder and pictures of the moment a little ‘cluttered'.

Worry not. The cloakroom can hold just about everything for you on the day… apart from your hand. We also request that buggies and pushchairs are either left at home or checked into the Rose Theatre cloakroom free of charge.

And in all the excitement – please don't forget to pick up your gear afterwards. The cloakroom opens from 9.00am and closes at 5.00pm.

Finding your seat

The theatre is built over three levels, accessible by stairs and a lift. An announcement will be made when auditorium doors are open, and graduates and their guests can take their seats. Each ticket bears a seat number and the level it's on.

You won't be sitting with your guests. Graduates are on the ground floor. The ushers will show you to your seat.

Souvenirs

While you're waiting, you might want to buy a souvenir of the day. There will be people selling a range of graduation-related memorabilia on the Circle floor. Find out what will be on offer.

Special requirements? Please tell us ASAP

When applying for tickets, you're asked if you or your guests have any special requirements. If you don't tell us about these in good time, we cannot guarantee to be able to accommodate them. You'll have the opportunity to tell us whether you or your guest/s have any special requirements when you book your tickets.

  • Access: There's level access into the Rose Theatre and its café from the pavement. The entrance doors are automatic. There's a lift to each floor with accessible toilets on each. For people with mobility problems, we allocate ground floor or aisle seating where possible. The wheelchair spaces are located in the stalls on the ground floor.
  • Guide dogs: Please let us know in advance if one of your party is bringing a guide dog, so we can arrange for a water bowl and dog-sitter during the ceremony.
  • Hearing aids: Anybody with hearing problems doesn't have to miss a word. The theatre has a wireless (infra-red) audio system. This works in two ways:
    • If you wear a hearing aid, you can collect a neck-loop from the theatre cloakroom. Simply put on the neck-loop and switch your hearing aid to the ‘T' position.
    • If you don't wear a hearing aid, you can pick up a discreet wireless headset from the cloakroom.
    • A returnable deposit of £5 is required for either a neck-loop or a headset.
