Quality assurance and enhancement
The ADC works closely with the University's faculties on quality assurance (QA) issues arising from learning, teaching and assessment. This includes offering support for:
- preparing for QA events (eg internal subject reviews); and
- responding to the outcomes of such events and other formal QA processes (eg student feedback, annual monitoring and external examiner reports).
Key structures for this support are the faculty action plans for learning, teaching and assessment and bi-monthly meetings with the associate dean (or equivalent) for each faculty. ADC support will include, as appropriate, staff development, resource development, the provision of appropriate learning technologies and other services such as:
- analysis of the outcomes of QA processes for the dissemination of good practice;
- facilitation of feedback from students;
- facilitation of the provision of student data; and
- facilitation of other student involvement (course representatives, peer assisted learning, skills centres, ambassadors, interns and communication with Kingston University Students' Union).
The ADC liaises closely with the University's Academic Registry and staff are members of key QA committees such as the Quality Enhancement Committee and the Academic Regulations Committee. Please also see the resources and links available via Academic Quality and Standards (AQS). Please note that this link is to StaffSpace, our staff intranet, so is only accessible to current staff.
Finally, the ADC is the University's link with the Higher Education Academy and to HEFCE with respect to learning and teaching and widening participation.
