Innovative practice

During the past two years, the Academic Development Centre (ADC) has been working with each faculty and the University's collaborative partners to implement the goals of the University's Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy.

The approach to this work was stimulated by an HEA Change Academy project in September 2009. It is characterised by a partnership approach whereby faculty action plans, reflecting both the University and faculties' strategic priorities, are funded by the ADC. These funds support dedicated posts as well as the costs of developing, piloting and evaluating initiatives.

Quality enhancement in learning and teaching publication

These initiatives have been compiled in our Quality enhancement in learning and teaching: How Kingston University is improving the student experience (PDF) publication.

Quality enhancement in learning and teaching: How Kingston University is improving the student experienceThis publication includes more than 50 of the initiatives developed over the past 12 months through this approach.

Each one has demonstrated a positive effect on improvements in student satisfaction, retention, attainment or employability.

The purpose of the publication is two-fold:

  • to disseminate these examples of good practice within the University and among our collaborative partners; and
  • to recognise and celebrate the commitment to learning and teaching that exists at the University, and to continue to raise its profile.

The 2012 edition of the publication will be available in October.
