We encourage everyone to wear 'academic dress' (gown, hood and hat) at their graduation ceremony. And no, it's not compulsory, but most graduates make an effort on the day.
The type of gown, hood and hat depends on the qualification you're being awarded. See our gown guide to find out more.
Ede & Ravenscroft is the company that supplies all Kingston University's academic dress. To order yours, visit the Ede & Ravenscroft website. You'll need to enter 'Kingston University' into the search bar and click 'Find'. Ordering your gown in advance will save you money.
You can also call Ede & Ravenscroft on 01223 861 854.

|Masters (taught and research)||£51|
If you haven't hired your gown by the deadline date, you may be able to hire a gown at Ede & Ravenscroft on the day, although this is not guaranteed. If a gown is available on the day of your ceremony it'll cost more and they can't guarantee to have your size.
Graduations are friendly rather than formal but, as it's a special occasion, most people – including guests – go smartly dressed.
From a practical point of view, it's best if graduates wear a shirt or blouse so that the hood can be fastened on a button. Alternatively, bring a safety pin.
Before you go to the Rose Theatre, don't forget to collect your gown. The nice people at Ede & Ravenscroft will explain how it should be worn and help you put it on. Find out where you need to go to collect your gown.
Once you have hired your gown, you have a period of 14 days from the date of your order, where you can cancel your booking, and receive a full refund.
If a period of 14 or more days has passed since you made your booking, a refund can be processed (minus a £1.50 administration fee). To obtain a refund please contact Ede & Ravenscroft directly.
All requests for refunds must be received by Monday 10 July 2017.
