Information for guests

familyKingston University welcomes you to Kingston to celebrate your graduate's success. Graduates have to book their place and guest tickets through Kingston University's online student portal (called OSIS) and we send regular email communications directly to the graduate with information about their day.

During the ticket booking process, graduates are asked if they would like to nominate a guest to receive information from the University about the graduation day; such as parking tips, offers from local hotels and restaurants, and key timings. If you would like to receive communications about graduation from us, please ask your graduate to nominate you. We cannot give any information to you about a graduate and their graduation day, without their permission, though general information can be found here on our website.

Key dates and deadlines for graduates

Tickets

Purchasing tickets

Every graduate is able to purchase two guest tickets initially, which are £23 each. To be notified when extra tickets go on sale, the graduate must select to be on the waiting list when they book via OSIS.

After the booking deadline, and once results are published on Wednesday 21 June 2017, we will assess the amount of remaining guest tickets. If there are any available, the graduates on the waiting list will be sent an email a few days after this date and they will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Extra guest tickets for ceremonies are not guaranteed.

There may be a handful of tickets available to purchase on the day, if there are any available the key information page on our website will be updated. Extra tickets on the day are sold from 90 minutes before the ceremony starts, and on a first-come, first-served basis and are £25 (cash only).

Collecting tickets

We do not post tickets out in advance, tickets are collected on the day from the Rose Theatre, from 90 minutes before the ceremony. The graduate needs to bring their confirmation email and a form of ID to collect their tickets. They will be given their name card which is also their ticket, along with any guest tickets that have been purchased in advance.

Finding your seat at the Rose Theatre

Doors to the auditorium open approx. 30 minutes before the ceremony start time. Once the announcement that the doors to the auditorium are open you will be able to take your seats. Guests are not allocated a specific seat. Guests are allocated to a level: Ground Floor, First Floor or Second Floor. Within that level you can sit on any seat that is not reserved, on a first-come, first-served basis. We do reserve seats for people with access needs. Find out more about accessibility.

Guests without ticket

If you are not able to purchase all the tickets that you need either in advance or on the day, guests can still come along and enjoy the graduation day. There is a screening room on the first floor of the Rose Theatre which shows the ceremony on a large screen. Please note this room has limited capacity. Guests without tickets can take part in the rest of the day including photography sessions and the ceremony reception.

Timings

Here is a handy table of timings (PDF) to help you plan your day. You will be handed an information leaflet when you arrive detailing key times and locations. You can also download it to save or print it so you can refer to it easily on the day.

Dorich House Museum offers free entry to graduates and their families

The former studio-home of sculptor Dora Gordine (1895-1991), Kingston University's Dorich House Museum holds the world's largest collection of the artist's work, as well as an exquisite collection of Russian art collected with her husband the Hon. Richard Hare. This striking 1930s property was designed by Gordine as a place for her to live and work just a 'Deer's Leap' from Richmond Park.

Dorich House Museum is open to the public Thursday-Saturday 11.00am - 5.00pm (last entry at 4.30pm) and to congratulate all those graduating, they will be offering free entry to graduates and families holding graduation tickets on Thursday 20 July, Friday 21 July and Thursday 27 July. (You can still visit on these days even if it's not the day of your ceremony).
