From Penrhyn Road to the O2

Eddie Kadi is set to become the first black UK comedian to headline at the O2 Arena. Media technology graduate (2005) Eddie Kadi is set to become the first black UK comedian to headline at the O2 Arena. Known for his clean comedy and hilarious insights, Eddie was nominated Best Male Comedian at the 2009 Urban Comedy Awards. He has regular slots on BBC Radio 1Xtra and has now booked the main stage at London's O2 Arena in September, confident that he can fill the 20,000 seats.

"My first ever gig was at Kingston Hill, when I hosted the Uni's Afro Caribbean Society talent show," he recalls. "I've never been so nervous. At the time, I was the spokesperson for the society, so everyone knew me, but I don't think they were expecting me to be funny. I blocked the audience from my mind and started chatting away about uni life and relationships, and the response was so overwhelming that I knew I wanted to perform more often!"

He began performing as a stand-up, selling out shows at the Hammersmith Apollo, Hackney Empire and IndigO2. "The natural thing when I graduated was to pursue that path, although I didn't expect it to lead to the O2 Arena quite so quickly!"

For more information on Eddie's show, including how to book tickets, visit the O2 website.
