Matthew Hilton, furniture designerMatthew is one of the UK's most celebrated designers, with work held in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert museum and the Design Museum. His company, Matthew Hilton Ltd, offers a sculptural range of solid wood furniture, produced under licence with design company De Le Espada.

After graduating, Matthew designed products for Paul Smith, Joseph Pour La Maison and Capa, London, in addition to sets for fashion designer Koji Tatsuno's company, Culture Shock. He set up the Matthew Hilton Design Studio in 1985 and started working for the British retailer and manufacturer SCP, for whom he designed several classic pieces including the Balzac chair.

The Studio expanded its practice and in 2004 Matthew was given the highest honour in the field of industrial design by being named a Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal Society of Arts. He established his own brand, Matthew Hilton Ltd, in 2007 and has received numerous awards throughout his career.
