Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR)

The Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) replaces the printed diploma.

The HEAR is an electronic record of student achievement verified by the University. Every student will develop their own HEAR during their time at university. It includes the information about a student's academic achievements that was previously provided on the diploma supplement, plus additional academic details and non-academic activities completed during their course at Kingston.

A student's HEAR starts on day one at Kingston University. It is a 'living document' and theirs to develop during their time here. They can make the report available to potential employers and future academic institutions to support employability and further study.

It is possible for students and employers to print copies of the HEAR; however, only copies which are viewed online via the system provider Gradintelligence should be regarded as verified by the University.

What does the HEAR mean for students?

  • The HEAR replaces the diploma supplement at Kingston University. From April 2014 onwards, all Kingston University graduates will receive a HEAR.
  • The HEAR holds details of your academic achievements and other activities completed during your time at Kingston University.
  • Your HEAR starts on day one at Kingston University. It is a 'living document' and yours to develop during your time here.
  • You can list a wide range of additional achievements in section 6.1 of the HEAR. These could include: course representation; student ambassadorship; mentoring schemes; academic and professional collaborations; language courses with Kingston Language School; enterprise activity; and KU Talent events. You can also register your involvement in Kingston University Students' Union activities, such as society memberships, sports, volunteering and student wellbeing.
  • You can share your HEAR with employers and academic institutions by providing them with an electronic access. They can then verify your qualifications quickly and easily.
  • We are delivering the HEAR with Gradintelligence. This means that you can continue to access your HEAR after graduation to update your personal profile and share your details with employers.

What does the HEAR mean for employers?

  • All Kingston University students graduating after April 2014 will have an online achievement record, called the Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR).
  • This national scheme is already used by many other universities across the UK.
  • Students will share their HEAR with employers and third parties through a token system, enabling the third party to verify their qualifications and other extra-curricular achievements quickly and easily.
  • Once a student has granted you access to their HEAR, you can print off a copy. But please bear in mind that Kingston University will only verify the online version.
