Why choose this course?
This course covers an exciting range of subjects, including the history of painting, sculpture, design, architecture, film and photography. You will explore a stimulating range of images, texts and objects, developing skills of visual analysis and historical understanding.
You can also choose to study History of Art, Design and Film as a joint honours degree alongside another subject, or Art History as a joint honours degree with Fine Art. See the 'course combinations' section for more information.
What will you study?
Core classes include surveys of particular periods and places, such as Dutch art of the 17th century, the Parisian art world of the late 19th century, specific technologies or media such as film, photography and sculpture, and particular critical and theoretical issues concerning art, design and film such as the problems of Modernism or the politics of craft.
