Introduction to Learning and Teaching (ILT) programme

The Introduction to Learning and Teaching (ILT) programme course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of new academic staff, PhD students and other professional staff at Kingston University who wish to gain a better understanding of how students learn and how to support the learning process.

It is a short, in-service, practical, work-based learning course to welcome and support new academics and colleagues in professional roles who support learning and teaching in their day-to-day work. The programme offers and explores a variety of teaching approaches and topics including: active learning, small and large group teaching, assessment and feedback, technology enhanced learning.

Colleagues who achieve the ILT are awarded associate fellowship of the HEA (AFHEA) within the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF), a national professional recognition scheme, developed by the higher education sector to raise the status of teaching in higher education. In addition, the programme is accredited by Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
