Undergraduate Courses in GIS
3d terrain modelling
Geographical Information Systems and Science (GIS) combines the skills of the geographer with IT and other complementary disciplines. It defines an approach to the study of geographical patterns, processes and management and decision-making through powerful technology. The BSc degree in Geographical Information Systems, offered by Kingston University, was the first of its kind in the world, and has been running successfully since 1989. The core area of the course is the study of GIS concepts and how these are applied. You will study how to handle geographical information in many different contexts and also learn vital skills in using GIS to apply your knowledge and understanding.
Kingston graduates have found employment with Ordnance Survey, ESRI, Smallworld, Intergraph, IBM, British Gas, The RAF, The Meteorological Office, CACI, railway companies, local and regional authorities, environmental agencies and consultancies, civil engineering firms, amongst others. Our graduates are in high demand and we have one of the largest graduate employment rates of any subject (which routinely hits 100%).
Listed below are the undergraduate degree programmes we currently offer, with a brief description of their scope. The menu items to the left give you quite a bit of more detail about doing GIS at Kingston in general - please take time to have a look.
