23rd -24th September Chaplaincy and the Freshers' Fayre

In the Freshers' Fayre look out for stalls from all the student faith groups, and many of the local churches including our partners on the Wanta Church with the free pop corn!

12noon - 2pm Thurs. 23rd and Fri. 24th The Rice Bowl free simple lunch in support of Pakistan Floods Apeal come along for a bowl of hot rice and make a donation. In the Spirituality and Faith Centre Town House 8

Fri. 17th September 3pm-5pm International Students' Cafe

The chaplaincy join the International Students Events team in jointly running a monthly International Students' Cafe at The Rose Theatre. Free tea and coffee, lots of activities and a chance to meet up with other international students.

Monthly Inter Faith Group

Our inter faith dialogue groups for students and staff meets once a month with a free lunch! It's an open meeting with all members of the university welcome. Dates to be agreed.

This term we think about two of the greatest figures of New Testament as we look at two short letters - The First Letter of Peter and Paul's Letter to the Thessalonians. Weekly beginning 27th Sept., in the Quiet Room

Join us at the Quiet Room (Penrhyn Road TH8) for 10 minutes to remember those whose lives are damaged or destroyed by war and conflict

Rev Dr. Michael Ipgrave is a leading national figure in inter faith relations and has written extensively on the subject.

We mark the 400th Anniversary of the most important publication in English history - the King James Bible of 1611. Seminar with a panel of three speakers - Erica Longfellow (lecture in English literature, specialising in C16-17th religious writing) Alison Baverstock (head of MA in Publishing at KU, member of the publishing board for "Common Worship") and Ian Metcalfe (publisher of Bibles and digital media at Hodder & Staughton). Our panelists introduce a discussion about the KJB and relgious publishing past, present and future .

Dr. Andrew Singleton (Monash University, Australia) introduced his recent research on how young people today understand death and the afterlife. A joint event with the School of Scoial Sciences this seminar is for academics, youth workers, faith leaders, educationalists and others who are interested in deepening their understanding of this topic.
