Why do this course?

If you graduated in the summer of 2017 and are either unemployed or working in a part-time job, this module could be the right thing for you. If you have an interest in going into primary or secondary teaching, but no experience this could be a great starting point to find out whether it is right for you and give you some great experience for further applications.

Course description / summary

This module will introduce you to the profession of teaching and help you to explore whether teaching might be the right profession for you. It's designed to cover some of the basics of teaching, gain knowledge of the various sites and types of education in England for 3-19-year olds and consider different possible routes into teacher training (initial teacher education).


Four on-campus sessions (8 January, 29 January, 5 March and 14 May), online learning and a one-day school placement.

Entry Requirements

You must have an undergraduate degree in any subject from Kingston University.


This module is assessed via a portfolio of coursework.
