The School of Social Work annual conference: Great thinkers, great ideas, great impact

Kingston and St George's Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education is pleased to present this major one day social work conference, hosted by the School of Social Work.

The conference, chaired by visiting Professor Malcolm Payne, will provide a forum to debate social work's progress and discuss opportunities for its development. This is an opportunity to update your knowledge of best practice by attending workshops on current social work themes encouraging discussion among social work practitioners, service users, lecturers and students. You will also discover the latest research from the School of Social Work.

Plenary presentations on the day will be 'Loss, Grief and Transitions', 'The Social Model of Disability' and 'Empathy'. These will be presented by:

  • Dr Collin Murray Parkes OBE, Researcher, clinician, and lecturer on Bereavement, Stress and Disasters
  • Ann Macfarlane OBE, Disability Rights and Equalities Consultant
  • Professor David Howe, Professor at the University of East Anglia, Norwich
