Research seminar: Interprofessional collaboration competencies in the North American health care sector - the problematics of theory and evaluation

In recent years the rise of competency-based frameworks in healthcare have converged with the ongoing development of interprofessional collaboration (IPC) activities.

New IP frameworks are emerging that concomitantly have raised challenges in the form of how to operationalise them into sustainable workplace-based education programmes and how to evaluate their effectiveness in improving healthcare practice and outcomes.

This presentation will provide an overview of IPC competency-based frameworks in the North American context. In particular, the limitations of existing frameworks and tools are considered in light of the predominance of atheoretical approaches to the development and evaluation of IPC frameworks. A 'collective competence' approach is offered as a potentially useful theoretical platform from which to further develop and evaluate IPC competencies.

Booking is essential to attend this event.
