Variety Cafe: Ewa Plywacz & Peter Falconer

Variety Café is a series of free lunchtime concerts supported by Kingston University. The programme offers an exciting mixture of emerging artists and alumni of Kingston University's music department.

Talented vocalist Ewa Plywacz initially trained in classical piano and eurhythmics.  She fell in love with jazz in her early teens and for several years drew inspiration from Ella Fitzgerald. She began her vocal tuition with Elizabeth Swain at Kingston University, completing her BMus in 2015. After exploring her interest in mixing jazz with other genres, her musical style is now clearly influenced by modern jazz, soul and pop artists, such as Esperanza Spalding, Lianne La Havas, Sia and Kwabs. Ewa is accompanied on piano for this performance by Peter Falconer.

Originally from the North East, Peter has been a professional musician for 20 years, performing and composing in multiple genres.  As a jazz pianist, his influences are Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck, and Chico Marx. He recently completed an MA in Music at Kingston University, and is looking to start an MRes this September, also at Kingston, specialising in minimalist electronic music. He is delighted to be playing alongside Ewa once again.

Enjoy a wonderful lunchtime music session with this great duo.
