Fifty years on from Prime Minister Harold Wilson's landslide election victory of 1966, Dr Kevin Hickson discusses the subject of his latest book, Harold Wilson: The Unprincipled Prime Minister? Was Wilson, Britain's leader at the height of the ‘Swinging Sixties', a socially reforming modernizer or merely a manager of Britain's decline? And what lessons does his leadership offer the Labour Party in its present day predicament?
Dr Kevin Hickson is senior lecturer in British politics at the University of Liverpool, and has published widely on the politics and history of the British Labour and Conservative parties.
