Creating Out of the Cage

This presentation is part of a programme of events organised by the Creative Process Research Unit (PASS). Writer, director and academic, Alex McSweeney, will talk about his creative process writing and directing his 2015 production, Out of the Cage, which premiered at The Park Theatre, London and begins a national tour next year.

Out of the Cage was inspired by the ‘munitionettes' of Silvertown, London, whose strike during World War One challenged contemporary union orthodoxies about equal pay for women and men. Alex will discuss the development of the play, how his own creative process as writer and director was informed and enhanced by working with actors, strategies concerning the documentation of the process, finding funding and the future of the project.

All welcome!
