Migration and Citizenship conference

Please join us for this event, hosted by the Centre for Research on Communities, Identities and Difference (CResCID), Kingston University.

Migration is undoubtedly one of the major features of contemporary society. Everywhere we look, the word 'migration' is on everyone's lips. This conference focuses this ubiquitous phenomenon in order to develop research capacity of School of Social and Behavioural Sciences over one and a half days.

On the first day, the conference reviews what research has been carried out in regards to migration and identifies what needs to be done in order to further develop our understanding of migration. A particular focus is placed on the relationship between migration and citizenship, i.e., the relationship between the movement of people and the understanding and practice of membership of a political community as this is one of urgent issues in social sciences. Drawing from the taking-stock exercise on the first day, the conference moves on to identifying and articulating research collaboration and plans on the day with speakers from the first day. Anyone who is interested in researching migration and developing research collaboration is encouraged to participate in the conference.
