Variety Cafe: Ewa Plywacz & Peter Falconer

Talented vocalist Ewa Plywacz initially trained in classical piano and eurhythmics in Bielsko-Biala, Poland. She fell in love with jazz in her early teens and for several years drew inspiration from Ella Fitzgerald. She began her vocal tuition with Elizabeth Swain at Kingston University, completing her BMus in music performance in 2015. After exploring her interest in mixing jazz with other genres, her musical style is now clearly influenced by modern jazz, soul and pop artists, such as Esperanza Spalding, Lianne La Havas and Kwabs. For this performance, Ewa is accompanied on piano by Peter Falconer.

Peter Falconer is a composer and musician from Hartlepool in North East England, working across many genres and disciplines. A lifelong pianist, he studied for an MA in music at Kingston University from 2014 to 2016, and thanks to the course was inspired to continue his studies. He is currently studying for a PhD in music composition at Southampton. He is delighted to be performing with Ewa at the Rose again.
