A sociological study of neonatal care in Mexico: the social order and the moral order in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)

Title: A sociological study of neonatal care in Mexico: the social order and the moral order in the NICU

Based on ethnographic field work over the course of ten months, this research examined interactions among healthcare professionals, parents and babies in two
Mexican NICUs. This presentation focuses on a small aspect of the study as a whole. Drawing on ideas about purity and impurity within ‘the order of a system' (Douglas 1966)
