Taking Race Live has been a four year long, interdisciplinary collaboration between the departments of Sociology and Drama (2014-2015), Sociology and Music last year (2015- 2016) and Sociology, Music, Dance and Media & TV this year (2016-2018).The project has been based around a shared exploration of race, ethnicity and culture.

This year, students from Sociology, Music, Dance, Media & TV were offered opportunities to engage in joint field trips, crossdisciplinary learning and pop up events, building towards this evening's symposium that has been organised and managed by a student/staff committee.The field trips and activities included a visit to a local school which showcased a play around race and ethncity.

This event is student led. You will experience student performances of pieces they have created in response to their experiences of race, ethnicity and culture, as well as guest speakers and performers.
