What is the Bowen Technique?

It is a remedial therapy with similar results to osteopathy. Instead of physical manipulation of joints, Bowen uses gentle moves to release tight muscles, allowing the skeleton to re-align itself naturally and easily, and allowing the body’s systems to function correctly.

Results are often seen from the first session and just a few treatments can clear even long-standing complaints.

The gentleness of the moves and the fact it can be performed while sitting or clothed means it is suitable for people who are very sensitive, frail, in pain or pregnant, or the very young or the elderly.

How can it help me?

The Bowen Technique is useful for all kinds of joint pain (neck, back, shoulder etc) and joint immobility such as a frozen shoulder. It also helps accelerate rehabilitation from sports and accident injuries.

Its ability to release internal muscles means it is much more than body realignment. Removing these tensions means it can also ease PMS, migraines and headaches; regulate bodily functions (eg thyroid and blood pressure); clear problems with respiratory, digestive and other systems; and address many other complaints. Please ask your therapist if you want to know more.
