Wellbeing services

We offer a range of health and counselling services to improve your wellbeing, including:

Counselling sessions

Counselling offers you the opportunity to think about and share emotional difficulties in your life. The confidential and non-judgemental setting can help you explore your thoughts and feelings. The aim is to develop a fuller and more rewarding life.

Problems discussed may be from the past or the present. They might be related to your academic studies, your family, social or cultural issues, intimate relationships or anything else that is concerning you. No problem is too big or too small.

We offer brief, focused counselling, up to 10 sessions of 45-minutes each. Counselling is available at both the Health Centre Penrhyn Road and the Counselling and Health Advice Centre Kingston Hill.

Drop-in advice

Our confidential drop-in sessions provide crisis counselling, guidance and advice.

You will be able to talk to a counsellor or health advisor who will offer advice, support and (if relevant) an onward referral. Drop-in consultations are usually about 15 minutes long.

Stress management

These weekly run sessions at both Kingston Hill and Penrhyn Road are aimed at helping students to develop:

  • time management skills;
  • assertiveness levels;
  • new study techniques;
  • anger management techniques; and
  • ways to relax.

Drug and alcohol advice

Socialising is an important part of University life, but can become a problem if drugs and/or alcohol are added to the mix. We're here to help you understand and explore the impact different substances can have on your health and personal/social life.

Life coaching

Life coaching is about developing you – finding your strengths and building on them. It helps you achieve your potential by enabling you to focus on your goal and create a structured approach to get there.

Coaching can also help you deal with stressful situations and anxiety or worry caused by academic or personal issues.

Condoms

Students at Kingston University are entitled to a free bag of condoms each month. These are available at Health and Counselling Service offices and other selected locations on campus, including the Fitness Centre, main receptions and KUSU bars.
