We offer a number of honorary counselling placements to recently qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, seeking to gain experience in a higher education setting. Applications for these posts are welcomed from integrative, Gestalt and psychosynthesis practitioners. We do not offer counselling psychology placements.
We also offer a limited number of counselling placements to integrative, Gestalt or psychosynthesis trainees, in the final year of an approved training programme, who have already accrued some counselling hours during their training.
Placements begin in late September for one academic year, ending the following July. An extension of another year may be possible. Counselling takes place at the Health Centre on the Penrhyn Road campus.
We offer counselling to students in a time-conscious model, up to a maximum of eight weekly sessions. (University staff access counselling through the Occupational Health Department.)
In-house group supervision is provided to placement counsellors on a fortnightly basis on Thursday afternoons and is mandatory. Placement counsellors will usually have a caseload of three clients per week. Trainees need to be in personal counselling or psychotherapy for the duration of their placement in the service.
To apply for an honorary or training placement, please forward your CV with covering letter to firstname.lastname@example.org from January for the September intake.
