Staff

Members of staff in Partner Institutions eligible to register for a network user name and password from Kingston University are also entitled to use the full range of Library resources and services available.

The network user name and password issued to you provides immediate access to Kingston’s network including:

  • StaffSpace, the University intranet for staff
  • StudentSpace, the University intranet for students
  • Kingston University Blackboard, including any modules you are involved in teaching

In addition, registration entitles you to access:

  • Library electronic resources and online databases
  • The four LRCs and their physical facilities and collections

How to access Library databases and e-resources

To use most Library databases and e-resources, you need your network username and password, and to follow the links from within https://go.kingston.ac.uk

Using the Library in person

To use of the any of the four LRCs in person and to borrow items you will need to show a Kingston University Partner ID card.

How to obtain a Kingston University Partner ID card

Please complete a Kingston University Library Services Partner Application Form and send the completed form together with two photos (passport size) to:

Your Partner ID card will be sent to the nominated site LRC for you to pick up. You will be notified by email when the card is ready for collection. Following collection you can use your card immediately to borrow books and resources.

Services you can access using your Kingston Partner ID card:

  • Use the four LRCs, including extended opening at Kingston Hill and Penrhyn Road. Please note you will ONLY be allowed to enter the LRCs after 9.00 pm on production of this current and valid ID card
  • Borrow up to 15 items of stock at one time. You will be subject to standard university rules and regulations for use of the Library service including loan periods, renewal and recall arrangements and fine arrangements
  • Place reservations on stock which is already on loan to another borrower
  • Consult past student dissertations. Please note these are for Reference Use in the LRCs only
  • Use Enquiry Services at Library Help Desks

Please note that your Kingston Partner ID card is issued for use in the Library only. Please bring your card with you whenever you visit one of the LRCs.

The Library also provides the following facilities: IT suites, photocopiers, silent study zones, group work areas, DVD and video players, music centres and graduate centres.

The Library service is here to support your work at Kingston. If you are unable to find what you need or require additional help, please ask a member of staff. There is a dedicated subject librarian for each of the teaching areas. They will be able to help you find specialist resources in your subject area.
