When you can renew
There is no limit to the number of times you can renew 4-week and 7-day loans before returning them, as long as no-one else has reserved them. You can renew items even if they are a few days overdue or you have recently built up fines.
Items will be renewed from the day of the renewal, so a 7-day loan that has been renewed will be due back 7 days after the date that you renewed the item.
To see how many times you have renewed an item, click on the title to bring up more details of the loan. The number of renewals is about half way down the list.
Desk loan and Project loan items can only be renewed at the LRC Help desks.
When you will be unable to renew items
You will not be able to renew an item if it has been reserved by another borrower. You may also receive a recall letter or email asking you to return the item as soon as possible. You are entitled to keep the item until the date it is due back.
You will not be able to renew items if your account has been blocked because you have:
- an overdue item that has a Hold request placed by another student
- a charge of more than £15.00
What happens during vacations or when I am on placement?
7 day,4 week and Desk Loan items continue to be issued for their normal loan periods over the vacations and during placements.
You will not be able to renew your loans if they have been requested by another borrower or if there is a problem with your account.
