Reserve an item using the catalogue

All of the copies of the item must be on loan for you to make a reservation using the catalogue. If a copy is listed as 'Available', at any of the sites, you will not be able to place a reservation using the catalogue.

When you reserve an item you cannot reserve just four week loans, you are reserving the next available copy of the item.

To place a reservation using the catalogue:

  • Choose the Standard Catalogue and then search for the item
  • Click on the title of the item
    The screen will show the location of all the copies of a title and whether they are available.
    If any copy of the item you require is displayed as 'Available' on the catalogue you will not be able to place the reservation online. If you cannot find the item on the shelf, you will need to fill in a reservation slip.
  • Click on Request
  • Type in all 8 digits of your ID number which is on your KU ID card, your 4 digit Library PIN and click on 'Login'.
    The details of the item you want to reserve will be displayed. The 'place a reservation' option should automatically have been selected.
  • Click on Place Request
  • The Reservations screen will be displayed.
    Choose the site you wish to collect the item from using the drop down menu.
    Click on Confirm
  • If your reservation is successful, you will see the message: 'Successfully placed reservation' followed by details of the reservation.

You will be sent an email when your reservation is ready for collection. It will be kept at the counter for you for seven days. Please come to the counter with your KU ID card to collect it.
