Other reasons to visit…

Register with the Health Centre

  • Tuesday 14 September, 1.30pm–4.30pm
  • Wednesday 15 September, 1.30pm–4.30pm

It’s important that you register with the University Health Centre soon after you arrive, in case of any illness or medical emergency. Staff from the Health Centre will be available at the International Welcome Centre to register new students.

Please note: If you arrive on Tuesday, try to register for anything you can then as there will be a new set of students arriving on Wednesday and it may get very busy.

Open a bank account

  • Tuesday 14 September, 1.30pm–4.30pm
  • Wednesday 15 September, 1.30pm–4.30pm

This is one of the most important things you will need to do when you arrive (if you’ll be here for more than six months). We will have representatives from local banks to talk to you about bank accounts and how to open one.

If you are interested in opening a bank account you will need:

          • your passport;
          • a University letter confirming your address at our halls of residence OR proof of address in your home country (for example a bank statement); and
          • a letter from the University confirming your place on your course.

There are many banks available in Kingston, but only a few will be at our International Welcome Centre. You are free to open an account with an alternative bank if you wish.

Please note: If you arrive on Tuesday, try to register for anything you can then as there will be a new set of students arriving on Wednesday and it may get very busy.

Meet the Students’ Union

  • Tuesday 14 September, 1.00pm–5.00pm
  • Wednesday 15 September, 1.00pm–5.00pm

The Students’ Union is an organisation run by students, for students. The Union organise sports clubs, societies, volunteering opportunities, student events throughout the year and much more! So come along and meet them and find out about their services and how they can help you.

Learn about London transport

  • Tuesday 14 September, 1.30pm–4.30pm
  • Wednesday 15 September, 1.30pm–4.30pm

Transport for London (TfL) will be at our International Welcome Centre to give you information about the different types of public transport in the capital. They’ll be able to help you plan your journeys, decide on the best form of transport and tell you about the best ticket options.

Learn about mobile phone options

  • Tuesday 14 September, 1.30pm–4.30pm
  • Wednesday 15 September, 1.30pm–4.30pm

There are lots of mobile phone options in the UK and choosing the right one can be confusing! Our Students’ Union will be at the International Welcome Centre to help you find the best mobile phone option for you.
