To help you prepare your Tier 4 visa application you can also refer to the guidelines on the UK Council for International Student Affairs (UKCISA) website which helps to simplify and explain the immigration rules.
The International Student Advisory Centre can you advise you accordingly.
UK Border Agency's cap on studies
The UK Border Agency has introduced a cap on studies of three years for below degree level and five/six years for degree level and above which will limit the time you can spend studying in the UK on a student visa. If you have previous leave that was granted for study purposes in the UK, this will be counted as part of the limit and will affect all Tier 4 visa applications made after 6 April 2012.
This means that you will be limited to a maximum of five years if you are studying at undergraduate (UG) and/or postgraduate (PG) level. Further studies in the UK must also demonstrate academic progression or be complementary to studies at the same level.
To find out more or book an appointment to meet with an adviser please contact the International Student Advisory Centre by email isac@kingston.ac.uk or alternatively call 020 8417 3645.
