Social events

Social events

  • Important: tickets are non-refundable and do not include transport.
  • We don't sell tickets on the day of the event, so don't delay; we have limited tickets and they do sell out!
  • Always check your timetable before you book, as some of our social events may clash with other important activities at the University.

Here are details of the social events that are available for the September 2017 intake. These are designed to help you explore your new environment as well as make new friends and have fun!

Welcome reception - free

Join us at one of Kingston's most popular pubs for an enjoyable evening, meeting your fellow international students who have also just arrived. Everyone will receive one free drink, and snacks will be provided.

Day Trip to Brighton - free

Please note: this trip is only open to visiting students.

This day trip is part of the visiting student programme, and all visiting students are invited to attend. Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis, and you will be emailed in August 2017 by the Study Abroad and International Learning Office (SAIL) with details of how to sign up for this event.

Bowling social

A great way to get to know some of your fellow students whilst having a bit of fun. Join us for an evening of classic, ten-pin bowling.

Freshers' Fayre - free

The Union of Kingston Students' legendary Freshers' Fayre will run over two days, and will involve hundreds of stalls giving out free gifts, as well as the chance to speak to representatives of societies and to sign up to our volunteering programmes. Make sure you don't miss the FREE PIZZA!

Freshers' Ball

The Union of Kingston Students will also be hosting the Freshers' Ball; the biggest student party of the year. It will be held in Pryzm nightclub in Kingston town centre. Expect live music performances, DJs, entertainment and much more!

Walking tour of central London

If you can't wait to go into central London, but don't know where to start, why not sign up for our guided walking tour? We'll take you to some of London's most famous sights, and you'll get to know the city and meet other students.

Hampton Court Palace trip

This magnificent palace set in delightful gardens was famously one of Henry VIII's favourite palaces. Explore his State Apartments and those of King William III where history is brought to life with costumed guides. After an hour's guided tour, you will be free to explore what is really a palace of two stories: a Tudor palace, magnificently developed by Cardinal Wolsey and later Henry VIII, alongside a baroque palace built by William III and Mary II.

Sunday lunch

Join us for a traditional roast at a local pub. This delicious meal consists of roast meat with gravy, roast potatoes and vegetables (vegetarian option available).
