We offer a range of support services before you arrive in the UK and during your studies on the Pre-sessional English course.
We will send you a confirmation email, including details about accommodation, arrival procedures and information about the first day of the course. Any changes to, or reminders regarding the course, will be communicated via email to the address that you provide on your application form.
During the Summer Pre-sessional English course, self-catering accommodation is available in secure, modern university halls of residence close to the campus. If you wish to stay in this university accommodation, please let us know on your application form and we will book it for you. Please see Course Fees and Accommodation for more information.
The International Student Advisory Centre (ISAC) can assist you before (and during) your studies with any questions or problems you may have on a range of matters, including immigration and visa questions, accommodation, financial advice, tuition fee payment and cultural issues.
The International Student Advisory Centre (ISAC) runs special visa application workshops for all Pre-sessional English course students who need to apply for a new visa for their main courses.
We are determined to help you successfully complete your course. In your weekly tutorial you can discuss any problems that you may have and receive valuable advice and guidance (see teaching, learning and assessment). We arrange introductions to the Learning Resources Centres (LRCs) and the University's extensive e-resources. In addition, we provide free access to the University's interactive English language learning software (EAP Toolkit), so that you can work on specific areas of your English whenever you want.
You will be based on the main University campus at Penrhyn Road and can use all of the University's facilities during your course. These include extensive computing facilities, fitness centre, and canteen.
The University has four Learning Resources Centres (LRCs), which have large libraries of books, print and electronic journals, specialist collections, private study areas with computers, plus a wireless network and laptops available for students to borrow.
During your main course, we offer you free in-sessional English classes to support you throughout your studies at Kingston. These include skills, language and one-to-one tutorials. At the end of your Pre-sessional English course you will receive information about the range of classes available and advice on which classes to join.
