Resources and facilities

We are investing £92million between 2007 and 2018 on our four campuses to provide you with an excellent learning environment. New facilities include:

  • the John Galsworthy Building and the extended Learning Resources Centre on the Penrhyn Road campus;
  • the new Learning Resources Centre and new teaching and learning space at the Roehampton Vale campus;
  • the Nightingale Centre (LRC), and business school building (due to open in 2012) on the Kingston Hill campus; and
  • refurbished workshops and studios and a new Learning Resources Centre (due to open in 2012) on the Knights Park campus.

Our specialist LRCs on each campus offer library and computing facilities and are open into the evening, with 24-hour opening at Kingston Hill and Penrhyn Road during term time.

Subject-specific resources

Our close links with external bodies and investment in our facilities ensure that you also have easy access to subject-specific resources. For example:

  • film students can use our sophisticated film and media labs;
  • banking and finance students can use our Bloomberg trading room to practise different trading techniques (using live data);
  • pharmacy students can test their skills in our new pharmacy practice lab;
  • St George's hospital onsite training
  • games technology students can use Xbox and PSP consoles in our new games lab;
  • journalism students will have access to a fully equipped newsroom;
  • art and design students can use a digital media workshop with 122 iMac computers; amd  
  • aerospace engineering students will have access to a Learjet 25 aeroplane, a Merlin flight simulator and large-scale wind tunnels.

Online resources

All Kingston University students have access to:

  • our extensive computer network;
  • StudySpace, our learning management system;
  • the student intranet, StudentSpace, both an online source of information and a virtual workspace; and
  • a personal email address, which will help you to keep in touch with friends and family in other parts of the world.
