Research at Kingston University
We have a committed and lively research culture at Kingston.
Research Assessment Exercise
The Government's Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) rates the quality of all research in UK universities. The latest assessment (2008) identified quality of at least an internationally recognised standard in 70% of Kingston University's research submissions. This assessment has meant the University's research grant from the Higher Education Funding Body for England has nearly tripled this year.
Our staff feed this expertise into their teaching, which means you can be sure you're covering the most up-to-date thinking.
External links
Many of our researchers work with a range of external sponsors. These connections allow us to:
- link academia with the real world;
- take fresh thinking into the workplace; and
- challenge convention.
For example, the Small Business Research Centre has undertaken work for sponsors including HSBC and the Bank of England.
The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing's emphasis on commercially useful research means its research groups have worked with companies such as Jaguar Cars, Dunlop Aviation and the Environment Agency.
