About this course
Why choose this course?
This course is ideal if you have a special interest in advertising and the marketing communications element of the marketing mix. You will study a range of specialist marketing and marketing communications subjects together with general business and management studies. A practical, hands-on approach enables you to appreciate the thinking behind planning and implementing effective marketing communications campaigns, from both client-side and agency-side perspectives.
You also have the opportunity to study a modern European language. An optional work placement year enables you to put theory into practice in a real business situation and build invaluable work experience before embarking on your future career. Alternatively you can spend a year on a study exchange abroad.
What will you study?
You will gain an overview of the marketing concept in modern business and non-profit organisations before going on to study the broader marketing mix, including market research techniques and how to apply marketing concepts to real situations.
The core business and management modules also give you a solid appreciation of a wide range of business activities and develop your management skills. In the final year, the core modules allow you to hone your strategic thinking and decision making in advertising, marketing management and business management. An option module enables you to further develop your specialism in marketing communications.
All our business courses have a shared first year so you can easily transfer to the second year of a different course if your interests change.
Where will you study?
Years 1 and 2 are taught at our partner institution, Richmond upon Thames College, as well as at the University. Year 3 must be taken at the University.
