Master of Business Administration MBA

Links with business and industry

Studying this course means you'll have opportunities to be involved with organisations outside the university — you can find out about them here.

One of Kingston Business School’s key strengths is its close collaboration with professional organisations. We aim to ensure that our programmes bridge the gap between academic theory and professional practice by working closely with the business world’s principal professional bodies to harmonise our courses with the needs of today’s business practitioners. You will learn how to turn theory into practice and gain a qualification that has real value in the real world.

We enjoy recognition or accreditation from:

  • Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development – we’re one of only ten Centres of Excellence among UK universities;
  • Economic and Social Research Council;
  • Association of MBAs;
  • Chartered Management Institute;
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing;
  • Market Research Society;
  • Institute of Direct Marketing;
  • Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators; and
  • The Law Society.

We also offer courses in partnership with both private and public sector specialists such as Capita Learning and Development, Communicators in Business, and the National School of Government.

Networking opportunities

Many of our postgraduate students have significant experience in the workplace and are combining study with their career. This means you can benefit from the networking opportunities provided by meeting other students with managerial positions in organisations in London and beyond, such as Heinz, HSBC, BT, PricewaterhouseCoopers and British Airways.

Alumni

Kingston’s Alumni Association grants free lifelong membership to all graduates. You will have the chance to meet regularly to continue your professional development or simply to network and socialise. There is also a dedicated Kingston MBA Network being developed. This brings together students and alumni worldwide, as well as Kingston staff and the wider business community. Benefits include career and professional development advice, a guest lecturer series called Taking the Kingston MBA to the Workplace and social events.

Strategy into Practice

Strategy into Practice is a highly successful guest lecture programme in which eminent business practitioners provide first-hand insight into the management of complex international organisations, promoting innovation and creativity, instituting cultural change and managing growth. After each event there is an opportunity to ask questions and network.

MBA project

The MBA project provides a valuable opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and business practice through a major piece of research that has important and immediately applicable managerial implications.
