Kingston University showcasing 25 key objects from its archives to celebrate the University's 25th anniversary

Kingston University will mark 25 years as a university in 2017.

To commemorate, Kingston University is showcasing 25 key objects from its archives and special collections, highlighting one each month leading up to the anniversary.

Each item has been selected from archives containing thousands of pieces, in consultation with Kingston University library staff and students.

The first piece, which was showcased in last month's blog, is a mounted photograph from the Vane Ivanovic Library and Archive. Vane Ivanovic had a fascinating life working in shipping, diplomacy and political campaigning. This item is from Ivanovic's early career as a hurdler, representing Yugoslavia in the Olympic Games in Berlin 1936 and London 1948.

This month's item, which also commemorates the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, is a unique piece of wartime memorabilia from one of the theatre collections – the David Henker Archive.

The next piece will be showcased at the beginning of September, you can keep up to date with the blog.
