Why choose Kingston University?
Kingston University is known as a top teaching university. Our high ratings for teaching quality mean you can be confident your son or daughter is choosing a university with excellent standards and a strong reputation.
Teaching quality
Because we're always open to new ideas we will also keep them up to date with the wider world. Our innovative outlook means:
- we're continuously introducing new courses;
- we offer new ways of learning, such as work-based foundation degrees;
- students can use StudySpace, our online learning resource; and
- our student intranet, StudentSpace, is also a virtual workspace.
Our top-quality resources will help them make the most of their study time, including:
- an extensive computer network and the University library, open 24 hours a day;
- English language support for international students;
- disability and dyslexia support; and
- study support – such as PALS, our peer-assisted learning scheme, and a personal tutor to support and advise them.
Student support
Coming to university for the first time can be a big step. At Kingston we do everything we can to make sure your child will get all the help and support they need.
It might be the first time they live away from home so:
- our Accommodation Service will help your child find somewhere to live;
- the Student Funding Service can help with their finances;
- our Health Centre offers GP appointments and complementary therapies; and
- the University's faith groups give spiritual support.
Location
We're based in Kingston upon Thames, a busy riverside town on the borders of London and Surrey. Kingston upon Thames has something for everyone, whatever your child's interests. In the town you'll find:
- a wide selection of pubs, bars, shops, restaurants and clubs;
- beautiful countryside – Hampton Court, Bushy Park and Richmond Park are all nearby;
- lots of social and cultural events for our 19,000 students – including those run by Kingston University Students' Union (KUSU) and the University's Sports and Recreation Service; and
- University-affiliated cultural resources – such as the Stanley Picker and Dorich House art galleries and the new Kingston Theatre.
Central London is just 25 minutes away so students can easily jump on a train and access art galleries, theatres and the city's world-famous night life – as well as plenty of employment opportunities.
