Automotive Engineering; Automotive Engineering (Commercial Vehicle Technology); and Automotive Engineering (Motorcycle Technology) PgDip/MSc

Partner institution

We run the Automotive Engineering course in partnership with K.N. Toosi University in Tehran, Iran. This gives Iranian vehicle engineers the chance to take introductory modules in their home country before finishing their studies at Kingston University.

Your studies at K.N. Toosi University

K.N. Toosi University delivers the first series of course modules between September and December in Tehran, Iran. We have jointly developed these to:

  • meet specific home and regional requirements; and
  • prepare you for study in the UK, including language tuition.

You usually also start work on your individual research project. A supervisor from K.N. Toosi will help you to:

  • select a project that relates specifically to an industrial need in Iran; and
  • identify an expert from the industry to act as a mentor (where possible).

You usually begin working on the project while you are still in Iran, under joint supervision from K.N. Toosi and Kingston University staff. You complete the project once you have transferred to the UK.

If you prefer to undertake a UK-based project, Kingston University will provide the necessary support and guidance once you arrive in the UK.

Your studies at Kingston University

You come to Kingston University in January to finish your studies. Having already completed some modules and started your project, you finish the course in just nine months (rather than year) and graduate with a Kingston University degree.

Our links with industry support your studies in the UK. You will benefit from:

  • presentations given by industrial experts, visiting Professors and engineering institutions; and
  • factory and industrial visits.

Student funding

Iran’s Centre of Industrial Research and Development offers scholarships for students completing the programme. Leading motor manufacturers Iran Khodro and Saipa also provide funding for the course.
