Choose Kingston's Design: Product+Space MA
In a climate of rapidly developing technology and changeable cultural, political and economic attitudes, this course provides the opportunity to pursue an active role in designing the future landscape of our everyday environment.
Students engage within a critical studio environment that explores the relationship between product and spatial design. They develop their own personal position to determine the degree of conscious interdependence (or isolation) between each.
The course seeks to expand outlook beyond traditional discipline contexts and promote healthy cross fertilisation of knowledge, creativity and aspiration. It encourages independent critical thinking and action.
What will you study?
You will explore a broad range of contemporary issues that inform the design, development and realisation of artefacts and spaces.
Study is centred on practical studio and workshop-based design projects. It includes investigation of:
- experimental processes within creative design endeavour; and
- interdisciplinary design themes – such as light and colour, materials, sustainability and design interaction.
You engage within a topical and pertinent design context offered by the course team and/or a guest luminary. Your masters project allows you to further develop your evolving design position with increasing independence.
