Here is the range of facilities available to you as a student at Kingston that will help you during your course.
The School of Geography, Geology and the Environment (GGE) is quipped with a number of specialist research laboratories and analytical facilities, all backed up by technical support.
High-quality computing labs are available for teaching and research. After a major rebuilding program (the £9.8 million Eadweard Muybridge building and £20 million John Galsworthy building) at Kingston University, the School has the use of specially-designed teaching laboratories. Analytical instrumentation, also accessed by PhD students and established researchers, is used in many modules and during dissertation research. (View images of our labs below.)
Analytical facilities include:
- comprehensive computing and GIS laboratories;
- geochemical and environmental chemistry laboratories;
- palynology and advanced microscopy laboratories;
- thin-section microscopy laboratory;
- laser-raman laboratory;
- mineralogy and petrology laboratory;
- palaeomagnetism and geophysical laboratory;
- sediments, soils and engineering geology laboratory;
- environmental sciences laboratory; and
- nuclear metrology laboratory.

You can also use the Graduate Centre facilities, which include:
- additional IT facilities;
- seminar rooms;
- social spaces, a canteen a large fully equipped gym and fitness centre; and
- a learning resource centre with specialist libraries.
