To be eligible for entry to an AMHP training programme at post-qualifying higher specialist level, candidates must:

  • hold a recognised professional qualification in social work, nursing, occupational therapy or psychology and be a registered social worker, nurse, occupational therapist or chartered psychologist;
  • demonstrate that they already have the level of professional competence, capacity and ability to undertake and complete an AMHP training programme at higher specialist level (as an indicator, we would normally expect two years of recent, relevant practice experience in mental health); and
  • be nominated by their employer.
