About this course

Why choose this course?

Pharmaceutical science is concerned with the design and development of new drugs for clinical purposes. It explores the different sources of medicine, how they work and how they can be formulated (eg tablet, cream, inhaler), analysed and tested.

The four-year MPharmSci route is ideal if you see yourself as a research scientist, working in areas such as formulation sciences, drug discovery or drug analysis.

What will you study?

The first two years of the course are shared with the BSc(Hons) programme. Your studies will then become more research-focused, helping you develop your laboratory, analytical and problem-solving skills. If you choose the industrial experience route, you will have the opportunity to undertake a paid work placement either in the UK or overseas.
