Analytical Chemistry with Management Studies MSc: Research areas

Current research in this subject

Many of our staff in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing are research active. This ensures they are in touch with the latest thinking and bring best practice to your studies.

Science research in the Faculty is organised into several research areas. The Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences Research Group is an interdisciplinary group shared by Kingston University and St George's, University of London.

Research focuses on the interaction of chemistry and life sciences with medicine. It is divided into three main sub-areas;

  • Pharmaceutical Sciences – including the use and understanding of free-radical reactions and the use of anti-cancer drugs/new bioactive natural products;
  • Therapy – including immunology, stem cell research and allergenic effects of foods; and
  • Parasitology – including parasite transmission, drug responses and host cellular immune responses.

The Materials Research Group engages in collaborative research with worldwide links. Areas of interest include:

  • bio-materials, such as new bone repair cements and a study of polymers for lens implants in the human eye;
  • granular materials, focusing on the properties of fluid-particle mixtures; and
  • new electronic materials, such as conducting polymers, liquid crystals and nanocomposites.

Business research

Research in the School of Business also feeds into your management studies modules. Research groups include:

Student research

You may be able to publish any research you undertake on the Kingston University Research and Innovation Reports (KURIR) website. This site gives anyone associated with Kingston University the opportunity to publish articles, which will be permanently available to the academic community.
