"Like for like, this is one of the top programmes in the UK... it was created and is taught by academics who have worked at leading international business schools as well as top global financial institutions." – Dr Mohammed Nurullah, course director
This course is designed for students from a variety of academic backgrounds, including those who have not studied economics, finance or accountancy at bachelors level. It is ideal for both:
At its last inspection by the Higher Education Funding Council, Kingston Business School was awarded an 'excellent' rating for its teaching quality, one of only a few from 120 UK business schools to receive such recognition.
The programme focuses on the practice of banking and finance, preparing you for the wide variety of careers in banking, the financial services, finance, and financial consultancy. It has a balanced approach between quantitative and qualitative methods, and it provides you with the computer and research skills required by employers in this highly competitive sector.
The course has been developed with advice from managers at a number of banks, including RBS Capital Markets, Commerzbank AG, Standard Chartered Bank and NatWest Bank.
Teaching is delivered by banking and finance experts, and the course content is supported by active researchers. There is also a programme, built in to the modules, of guest lectures from experts in banking and the financial services sectors.
The University's London location provides both a peaceful study setting and easy access to the city centre.
The banking and finance master's degree is designed to demonstrate the links between theory and practice. Taught sessions will regularly use real life examples and case studies, while the assessments also expose you to real life problems and solutions.
The course makes considerable use of the University's virtual learning environment (StudySpace) – for example: using discussion boards, podcasts and videos. In addition, the Faculty has a number of industry standard financial databases, such as DataStream, FAME, One Banker, and Thomson Deals. Read more in the learning support section.
Students can access the Bloomberg Trading Room and Thomson DataStream Advance. Find out more in the facilities section.
The course will provide you with opportunities for a variety of careers in banking, investment banking and financial services. In addition, the transferable skills and knowledge you obtain will prepare you for wider career paths in finance and financial management.
We provide you with a supportive study environment and expert academic team to help you achieve your goals.
If you are taking the dual degree, you will study a full-time masters programme at Kingston Business School during the autumn and spring semesters, then continue to Boston University to take another course in Boston over the following summer and autumn semesters.
