The course provides you with a firm basis in both the theory and practice of cognitive science and decision-making. Accordingly, one of the central themes of the course is that you will develop the skills to evaluate research findings and to relate these findings to practical applications and solutions.
The Department of Psychology has extensive links with external organisations for conducting applied research. The course provides opportunities for developing links with business and industry, based on your career goals and interests. You will spend 50 hours in a work placement in a chosen context where you can apply psychological research findings.
The course equips you with the management, business and personal skills required to become professionals. Accordingly, the course facilitates and encourages interaction between theory, policy, and practice in relation to people's judgements and choices (politics, business, retail, health, leisure and sport).
