What this course offers you
- This course is designed to give you a thorough knowledge of the genetic and molecular skills you need for a career in biotechnology.
- It will introduce the range of applications of biotechnology in industry and provide experience of many genetic and molecular methods, including the latest techniques in genomics, proteomics and bioinformatics. You will also cover in detail the applications of biotechnology in medicine, agriculture and environmental protection.
- The course is jointly delivered by the three universities that form the Institute of Biomedical and Life Sciences, part of the South West London Academic Network (SWan) – Kingston University; Royal Holloway, University of London; and St George's, University of London. This ensures that students have access to the latest technology and expertise across a wide range of specialisms.
- A module in research and enterprise will introduce you to issues concerning the commercial exploitation of biotechnological innovations, equipping you with the necessary key skills to carry out the research project which forms a major part of the course. This maybe carried out at any one of the three universities, or in industry.
- You can also select option modules according to your interests in further analytical techniques, cancer biology and pharmaceutical technology.
