This course is jointly delivered by three major universities in South London – Kingston University; Royal Holloway, University of London; and St George's, University of London – which together form the Institute of Biomedical and Life Sciences, part of the South West London Academic Network (SWan).
This ensures that you have access to the latest technology and expertise across a wide range of specialisms, including specialist laboratories to provide facilities in, for example, bioinformatics, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical technology, microbiology, immunology, genomics and proteomics. Kingston University facilities
There is a wide range of facilities for practical work at our Penrhyn Road campus, where this course is based. You will have access to a modern environment with the latest equipment, including:
- Agilent Bioanalyzer capillary gel electrophoresis system for high resolution DNA analysis, RNA integrity analysis, microvolume SDS-PAGE protein resolution, and whole cell analysis;
- Bio-Rad CFX96 real-time PCR thermocycler and C1000 PCR thermocycler with 96 well or 48/48 well capacity;
- GE Healthcare NanoVue microvolume cuvette-free spectrophotometers;
- the £9.8 million Eadweard Muybridge building with state-of the art laboratories, including labs dedicated to biochemistry;
- new work areas and dedicated laboratories for biotechnology research and MSc projects; and
- computing laboratories and a team of IT technicians to offer assistance.

The Learning Resources Centre offers:
- subject libraries, plus a free inter-library loan scheme to other libraries in the Greater London area;
- online database subscriptions; and
- a growing selection of resource materials.
Dedicated graduate facilities
In addition, you can use the dedicated Graduate Centre on campus. This includes:
- additional IT facilities;
- seminar rooms;
- social spaces and a canteen; and
- a learning resource centre with specialist libraries.
