Biotechnology MSc: What our students say

Student profiles

Don't just take our word for it – here's what some of our current and recent students say about what it's like to study at Kingston.

Heidi Bødker Esbensen

Name: Heidi Bødker Esbensen
Age: 26
Course: Biotechnology MSc

"My undergraduate degree was in Biotechnology at a Danish University. However, I wanted to change the focus of my studies from biotechnology engineering to research-related biotechnology. The Biotechnology MSc at Kingston University gave me this opportunity, with a course that included journal clubs, critical reviews, peer reviews and much more.

"The combination of modules has been very well arranged and they have complemented each other nicely. I have also enjoyed the assessment forms and the field trip that was arranged by our course director. The level of teaching has been appropriate for masters level, and lecturers have been very helpful in providing guidance for self-study when I have approached them, either during their office hours or in lectures.

"The course made good use of external speakers which was very interesting and gave a new angle to some topics. It has also been fantastic and inspiring to have the opportunity to visit and receive teaching from two other well known universities – St George's University and Royal Holloway, University of London.

"My long term ambitions are not fixed, but the course has definitely helped me to clarify what possibilities lie ahead."
